There‘s no accounting for taste? May be. But there‘s no doubt that the experts love our designs. So much so that they have received awards such as the Good Design, iF-Award, Red Dot Award, Design Plus, Iconic Award and the German Design Price.
“Receiving these prestigious design prizes for our luminaires is once again further affirmation of our design work, which not only aims for maximum light quality and energy efficiency but also opens new design scope for outside use“, is how Bernd Schmalhorst, Founder and Managing Director of IP44.de, reacted to the awards.
The German Design Awards are the international premier prize awarded by the German Design Council. Its goal: to discover, present, and honour unique trends in design. Every year, high-calibre entries in the fields of product and communication design are honoured, each of which blazes new trails in the international design landscape. The German Design Awards, launched in 2012, are among the most prestigious design competitions worldwide and have an excellent reputation far beyond specialist circles.
The Red Dot Award: Product Design, whose origins date back to 1955, appraises the best products created every year. In 48 categories, manufacturers and designers can enter their innovations in the competition. On Young Professionals Application Day, graduates of design courses who have obtained their academic qualifications within the past five years have the opportunity to take part in the draw for one of 50 free registration places. According to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, the jury evaluates the entries and only awards a Red Dot to products that win them over with their high design quality.
The entire world of interior design.
The goal of the ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior is to discover and honour the best achievements in all areas of interior design. The competition is aimed at all companies in the furniture industries, as well as their partners in the areas of interior design and interior architecture. The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior take a holistic approach to design. Furniture, lights and fixtures are no longer seen individually, but as design elements that form part of the overall composition. This approach results in landscaped interiors which have been designed down to the smallest detail to create the highest level of atmosphere and personal expression. Each of the individual elements that make up these holistic living environments – from the lights to the door handles, from the cutlery to the room dividers and textiles – are designed with the greatest care and effort.

All awarded entries are featured on the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE, in the iF design app and are displayed at the iF design exhibition Hamburg.
The Design Prize is an official design award of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is bestowed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The prize was conceived by the German Design Council and awarded for the first time in 1969. Back then and until 1986, a prize for young talents was awarded annually. In the last 40 years, the Design Prize has undergone various advances: Outstanding achievements in the fields of product and communication design have been rewarded annually since 2006, and there has been a prize for an exceptional design personality ever since 1993.
The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is also referred to as the “prize of prizes”. The reason: No other design prize sets similarly high standards for the participants. A company can only participate in the competition if its product has already received a national or international award.
Design Plus powered by ISH 2019 is the international competition for exhibitors of the ISH. The competition honours products that intelligently combine technology and design. Aspects such as innovativeness, sustainability and energy efficiency play a significant role in the assessment. Over the years, the Design Plus seal of quality has advanced to become a coveted mark of distinction.
The competition is now a valued communications platform for companies. The award offers exhibitors a unique opportunity to present and differentiate their products in the sometimes confusing diversity of trade fairs.
